Chickpea and Lentil Burgers

#HealthyFood #Recipes
So yesterday I randomly decided to make vegan burgers for my family and I for dinner. I haven't made vegan burgers before so this was a first! In all honestly, I just threw a bunch of ingredients into my food processor and let the processor do the work. I wasn't 100% sure if it would work, but it did! This is a super simple recipe and the ingredients are also super affordable, so you can make these for large groups of people without making a dent in your wallet! Serve these with avocado, vegan ranch or vegan sour cream, it will be a hit!
This is also really great for those who think veganism is boring and restrictive! You will  be enlightened! These patties are also gluten free.

This is also my first savory recipe on my blog! I promise to make more!

Chickpea and Lentil Burgers
Makes 6 patties
Ingredients:
1/2 c yellow dahl (can use other lentils if you like)
1 can drained and rinsed chickpeas
1 tsp chilli/paprika powder
1 tsp ground coriander seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp lemon juice
1/2tsp salt
2 tsp nutritional yeast (optional but recommended)
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 tsp crushed ginger
1 tsp olive oil (optional)
1-2tbsp chickpea flour or other gluten free flour
Method:
1) Wash the yellow dahl and place in a saucepan with 1 cup water and boil for 8-12 minutes until partially cooked (if you are using canned lentils skip this step and just drain and rinse lentils well). Take of the heat and drain well.
2) Add the lentils, chickpeas, chilli/paprika powder, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, lemon juice, nutritional yeast and salt to the food processor. Process until you have a course mixture- chucks are good.
3) Remove into a bowl and add oil, garlic, ginger and also add the chickpea flour if mixture is too wet. Mix well to combine.
4) Shape into patties (see picture above) and place on a plate.
5) Heat a frying pan and add oil if necessary. Once heated add your patties and cook until brown on both sides.
6) I served mine with sourdough buns topped with carrot, cucumber, avocado, and lettuce. I also made some home baked potato chips alongside!
7) Serve with whatever you have and enjoy!

Note: If the patties are too dry add water, flax/chia egg or applesauce to moisten it. If too wet add more flour or chill in the fridge for 10-15minutes.

I hope that you give these ago and feed them to your loved one! Theey are super delicious and nutritious too! I mean, who doesn't like burgers! What's even better than healthy burgers?!

Would love your feedback on the recipe!
